Summer's Surrender

I love Autumn. The mountains splashed in color as Nature picks up her paintbrush. Those cool nights, so perfect for snuggling around a fire. Harvest festivals, county fairs and Halloween!
Still, can't help but feel a little melancholy as the days shrink and the waters I could comfortably skinny dip in, start raising goosebumps.

To everything - turn, turn, turn
There is a season - turn, turn, turn
And a time to every purpose under heaven

So I thought I'd send off Summer with one last set, a look back  before turning to the richness that is Fall.

Summer is kind of like the ultimate one-night stand: hot as hell, totally thrilling, and gone before you know it.

Summer romances begin for all kinds of reasons, but when all is said and done, they have one thing in common. They’re shooting stars, a spectacular moment of light in the heavens, fleeting glimpse of eternity, and in a flash they’re gone.

Summer, after all, is a time when wonderful things can happen to people. For those few months you’re not required to be who everyone thinks you are. The fresh cut grass smell in the air & the chance to dive into the deep end of a pool, gives you courage you didn’t think you had. Summer just opens the door and lets you free.

Summer’s filled with breaking the rules, standing apart, ignoring your head, and following your heart.

A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, the birds are singing, and the lawn mower is broken.
James Dent

A life without love is like a year without summer.
Swedish Proverb

The summer night is like a perfection of thought.
Wallace Stevens

Great is the sun, and wide he goes
Through empty heaven with repose;
And in the blue and glowing days
More thick than rain he showers his rays.
Robert Louis Stevenson
